Introducing our Cape Town tours
The Dutch called it the Kaap - a waystation at the foot of the world, where ships reprovisioned before the long push east. Today, Table Mountain looms over the city with the same quiet authority, and Cape Town is still a place where visitors take in the view from Signal Hill and leave thinking that was the city.
Below the mountain and the wine-route itinerary and the brightly painted facades of Bo-Kaap, another city runs altogether. Underground rivers from 1652 still flow beneath the pavements. At the Slave Lodge on Government Avenue, the city confronts a history that shaped everything built after it.
VoiceMap was born here, at the foot of Table Mountain. It was here that we were first inspired to make audio walking tours more accessible, and to share stories from different communities. Tours run through the Company's Garden and Bo-Kaap's hidden history, and out to the Riverlands where the Liesbeek River carries the memory of the Khoi-San peoples who were here long before the Dutch arrived. Walk at your own pace, and let the Mother City show you what the mountain view can't.
