Do guests need to download an app?
Yes, guests download the VoiceMap app before they head out. Once they've done that and loaded the tour, they can put their phone in their pocket and walk. The tour is GPS-triggered and works completely offline, so there's no need for a data connection or wifi during the experience. This makes it particularly useful for international guests on roaming plans.
How do we give tours to guests? Do they pay for it themselves?
That's entirely up to you. The simplest approach is voucher codes: we provide codes that your team distributes at check-in, by email, or via a QR code in the room. Guests redeem the code in the app and the tour is free to them. You can also offer tours as a paid experience if you'd prefer to generate revenue rather than offer them as an amenity.
Can the tour be customised for our property?
Yes. If you're licensing an existing tour, we can adapt it to start from your front door and include a branded introduction that mentions your hotel by name. If you'd prefer something built entirely around your location, neighbourhood, and recommendations, we can develop that from scratch with one of our experienced creators.
What does it cost?
Licensing an existing tour involves an annual fee, which covers unlimited guest downloads. Commissioning a bespoke tour involves a one-time production fee plus an annual plan. We can talk through both options and give you a clear picture of what's involved for your property.
How long does it take to get set up?
For a licensed tour, setup is quick once we've identified the right tour and agreed on any customisations. A bespoke tour takes longer depending on scope, but we'll give you a realistic timeline at the outset.
What if we're not in a city where VoiceMap already has tours?
We have tours across 600+ destinations, so there's a reasonable chance we're already in your city. If not, commissioning a new tour is the right option, and we can connect you with a local creator with the expertise to do it well.
Do you work with hotel groups, or only individual properties?
Both. We work with individual boutique hotels and with larger groups. Mandarin Oriental is among the hotel groups that have partnered with VoiceMap.
