Suggested Itinerary
Day 1: South Lake Tahoe to Tahoe City
This tour is filled with options. Start your day by riding the Heavenly Gondola for an aerial view of Lake Tahoe. Drive to Inspiration Point Vista and enjoy a stunning view of Emerald Bay from just off the highway. Hikers will enjoy the challenging 2 ½ mile trek to Vikingsholm Mansion or 2-mile hike to Eagle Lake. Plan a picnic at D.L. Bliss State Park or Ed Zberg Sugar Pine Point State Park. Upon arrival in Tahoe City, take in a meal at Bridgetender Tavern or Jake’s on the Lake.
Day 2 Tahoe City to Incline Village and South Lake Tahoe
Start your day by exploring the Gatekeepers Museum area, Lake Tahoe Dam, Fanny Bridge, and a stroll along Commons Beach. Then head out on your drive toward Incline Village. Along the way take in the beauty of this alpine lake and hear stories related to its history. Have a picnic at Kings Beach or dine lakeside at Gar Woods & Riva Grill. For avid hikers enjoy the scenic views from the Stateline Fire Lookout Trail, Tahoe’s earliest fire lookout established in 1936.
From Incline Village continue your drive along Lake Tahoe’s east side through Nevada. Enjoy a short hike and the beauty of Memorial Point Outlook, explore Sand Harbor Nevada State Park, or a hike to the base of the unusual Cave Rock outcrop. Once you arrive at South Lake Tahoe you’ll find many first-class dining options in the casinos. Or try your hand at the gaming table.
