About the Tour

Het Zielenpad is een fietstour langs diverse kunstwerken in en rond Zwolle. Behalve van de kunstwerken kunt u tijdens deze audiotour ook genieten van de prachtige natuur rondom Zwolle.

Het Zielenpad verbindt de IJssel met de Vecht. De naam Zielenpad heeft haar oorsprong in het van ziel naar ziel fietsen. Het woord “ziel”heeft meerdere betekenissen. “Ziel afgeleid van het Oudfriese woord sil, “betekent afwateringssluis of waterloop, waterlozing.

De eerste “ziel" die je tegenkomt zijn de katerveersluizen. Verder kom je nog een “ziel” tegen aan het eind van de route, namelijk de Zielenschepen van Cornelius Rogge.
 Het thema ziel komt meerdere keren voor in de kunstuitingen van deze route.
