Essential Seville Walking Tour
About the Tour
Seville's rich history is a tapestry of Roman, Islamic, Jewish, and Christian influences that have shaped its architecture, culture, and traditions for over two millennia. On this walking tour, you'll discover the must-see
landmarks of this Andalusian capital while uncovering the fascinating stories behind them, from the powerful Almohad dynasty that built the Giralda Tower to the tragic tales of the Jewish Quarter.
Your journey begins at Plaza Nueva in the heart of the historic center, where a statue of King Ferdinand III commemorates the Christian conquest of Seville in 1248. You’ll find the meaning of the mysterious No8Do
symbol that reflects the city's loyalty to King Alfonso X, and pass by the ornate Town Hall. Along the way, you'll explore the remarkable Cathedral of Seville—the largest Gothic church and cathedral in the world—with its Moorish-influenced Giralda Tower that has survived centuries of earthquakes.
You'll discover the hidden secrets weaving through the narrow medieval streets of the Jewish Quarter, including the haunting tale of Susona, whose skull once hung as a warning in the window of her family home. The tour continues through the beautiful Murillo Gardens, past the historic Royal Tobacco Factory, where the events that inspired the opera Carmen
took place, and through the grand pavilions built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exhibition. The tour ends at the magnificent Plaza de España, the crown jewel of Seville's architecture, where colorful ceramic mosaics tell the stories of Spain's provinces and four bridges symbolize the historic kingdoms that united to form modern Spain.
During this 90-minute walking tour, you'll have a chance to:
