About the Tour

Retrace Quebec’s history from the 1600s to the 1900s on a walk along the city’s fortifications to discover their military past. By the end of this walking tour, you’ll be familiar with this historic site, and also with the wall’s unique blend of architectural styles, influenced by the French and British.

Along the way, you’ll learn about the English conquest, and a lesser-known attack led by an American army. I’ll paint a picture so you can imagine yourself here during times of attack and siege when large gatherings took place on Esplanade Park. You’ll also learn about Old Quebec’s omnipresent religious heritage and, in particular, that of the surrounding area.

This 60-minute tour starts at Fontaine de Tourny and ends at the famous Place d’Youville, which I hope you’ll have new ways to think about by the end of this tour.

I live in Quebec city and I studied history here, at the Laval University. Since many years, Tours Voir Québec is praised by major tour resellers, like Tripadvisor and Get Your guide, as being the number one city walking tour company in Canada. I hope that my passion for our city and its surroundings will show in the different audio-tours I am offering on Voicemap. Enjoy!

Tips

Places to stop along the way

If any are open, I recommend to enter in Le Diamant and Charlmers-Wesley Church. Make sure to checkout the schedules for the Palais Montcalm, Le Diamant and Le Capitole theatres.

Best time of day

This tour can be done at anytime. Except during the 10 days of the Summer Festival that takes place in July, where there might be some detours to be taken and should definitely be done before the concerts.

Precautions

Wear comfortable shoes, walk will take you down a steep hill. Dress accordingly to weather conditions.
