The Birthplace of Poland: A Tour of Cathedral Island and Śródka
About the Tour
Join me on a walking tour through the cradle of Polish history. Together, we’ll explore Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island) and Śródka, Poznan’s two oldest neighbourhoods, which are also quiet, picturesque places to take a walk. Along the way, I’ll show you some of the country’s most significant historical monuments and explain their connections to the origin of the Polish state.
The tour’s highlights include:
- What Poznan looked like over ten centuries ago
- The burial place of the first Polish kings and princes
- A building that was called ”The Gate of Heaven”
- The famous medieval conflict between breweries from different neighbourhoods
- A school famous for its baths
- A Śródka Tale, the most famous 3D mural in Poland
Along the way, you'll also have lots of opportunities to taste local specialities as the neighbourhoods are packed with cosy cafes and restaurants.
