Montreal’s Triple Threat: The International, Entertainment & Chinatown Districts
About the Tour
Get to know some of Montreal‘s most vibrant neighborhoods on this walking tour through the International District, Chinatown, and the Entertainment District.
Our tour begins at the intersection of McGill and de la Commune streets. From there, I‘ll introduce you to Montreal‘s International District, a vibrant hub that has remained Canada‘s financial, commercial, and industrial epicenter for over a century. You‘ll then enjoy a leisurely stroll through Montreal‘s Chinatown, one of the oldest Asian communities in North America, where you‘ll find plenty of tasty temptations. We‘ll also experience the allure of Montréal‘s Quartier des Spectacles, an ever-evolving entertainment district that illuminates the city throughout the year. Hosting over 40 annual festivals and home to 80-plus performance venues, this district serves as the gateway to Montreal‘s famed Underground City, known as RESO (an underground network connecting commercial, residential and entertainment buildings), which is the beating heart of numerous iconic and internationally renowned events. Before ending our tour at one of Chinatown‘s gates, you‘ll see Canada‘s largest power utility, Hydro Québec, and the eye-catching Palais des Congrès, Montreal‘s Convention Centre.
On this Montreal tour, you‘ll have a chance to:
- See the commanding architecture of Centre de Commerce Mondial (Montreal‘s World Trade Center) and the Royal Bank Tower on Canada’s Wall Street
- Be entranced by the magnificent water sequences of the La Joute fountain
- Walk through the culturally rich outdoor plaza, the Place des Festivals
- Gaze at the Grand Trunk Railway Building, whose owner perished on the Titanic
- Discover the largest cultural and artistic complex in Canada, the Place des Arts which is also home to MAC, the Musée d‘Art Contemporain de Montréal (Museum of Contemporary Art)
- Grab a bite to eat at Brit & Chips, Chez Chili or Pâtisserie Harmonie.
- Wander through the Complexe Desjardins, a spectacular mixed-use complex in the heart of Montreal
- Spend time in the Quartier des Spectacles, which has become the city‘s leading public square, recognized by Montrealers as the place to gather and express themselves, regardless of the occasion
By the end of this tour, you‘ll understand why Montreal is so wonderful, unique, and singularly awesome.

Richard Laperriere
Greetings, I’m Richard Laperriere, and for more than fifty years, I’ve had the privilege of welcoming fellow members of the international police community, as well as their families and friends, during their visits to Montréal. Many have asked for guidance on exploring Québec beyond the city limits. Whenever their travels take them toward Québec City, I always encourage them to follow the historic river route, the King’s Road and enjoy a meaningful stop in Trois Rivières, rather than rushing along the autoroute. It’s a drive that reveals the province’s heritage at a human pace, and one I’m proud to share with those discovering our region.
