As an experienced international restaurant manager with a deep passion for food, he‘ll guide you through neighborhood markets, trendy eateries, and hidden spots known only to the locals.
Starting in the lively and historically rich square, Rembrandtplein, you‘ll set out on a culinary adventure filled with flavors, stories and surprises. As you walk, you‘ll take in the city‘s iconic canals, many of which are on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. You‘ll wander through several charming neighborhoods, en route to the buzzing De Pijp district.
Jurgen will share the history behind the city‘s vibrant food scene and the global influences that have shaped Dutch cuisine. Along the way, you‘ll stop to admire the breathtaking architecture of the Rijksmuseum, DNB (the Dutch National Bank), and Amsterdam‘s Carrousel Pannenkoeken, a carousel turned pancake house. The tour ends in front of Heineken Experience, a former brewery where you can learn about its history and enjoy a refreshing drink.

The tour begins in Rembrandt Square, one of the city’s most historic and lively squares. You’ll know you’re in the right place when you spot the statue of Rembrandt, the famous Dutch painter, standing proudly in the middle of the square.
Tips
Places to stop along the way
During our walk, there are plenty of great spots to pause and soak in the city. Amstelveld offers a peaceful square with a charming wooden church and a cozy café. The Rijksmuseum, with its stunning architecture and gardens, is worth a stop even if you don’t go inside. Museumplein, the vibrant museum district, is a great place to take in the atmosphere. And if you’re a beer lover, the Heineken Experience is perfect for a visit right after the tour.
Best time of day
This walk can be done every day except Sunday, as the Albert Cuyp Market is closed then. De Pijp is great at night too, it’s the perfect spot to return for drinks or dinner after the tour.

Please bring a pair of headphones, your appetite and a water bottle. Don't forget to keep an eye on your belongings. And since we're in The Netherlands, don't leave home without an umbrella for an occasional rain shower.
