Hi there! I’m Karel Fraaije, creator of the social media account Time Travel Amsterdam. I'm professionally trained as a historian and literary scholar. But after several years focussing on what makes stories tick, I decided to launch into a new career as videographer - creating short video documentaries for anyone who wants to learn more about the city I love.

The social media has been an unexpected success. I've gained millions of views across my tiktok and instagram accounts. In the end, it was a way to bring people back into the past with me and to lend them my eyes, hoping that if people see what I see, they'll feel more welcome and more connected here.
