Meet Your Guide: Özgür – A Lifetime Dedicated to Turkey’s Heritage

Merhaba! I’m Özgür. My journey into the heart of Turkey’s history began with a rigorous academic foundation, earning degrees in Tourism and Guiding from Akdeniz and Cappadocia Universities, followed by a Master’s in Guiding at Akdeniz. Since 2009, I have been more than just a guide; I am a storyteller and an explorer who has traversed every corner of this beautiful country.

My career has been defined by a passion for the "slow and authentic." I spent two transformative years working with the Culture Routes Society, where I helped develop and preserve Turkey’s historic trekking paths. From leading Arkeo-Hike adventures along the rugged Lycian Way to organizing Hike & Sail expeditions on traditional gulets for international agencies, I have always sought to connect travelers with the "invisible hand" of our local culture.

Now based in Izmir, I’ve turned my focus to the magnificent city of Ephesus. My mission is to move beyond the typical tourist paths. Using my background in archaeology and cultural routes, I’ve curated this experience to reveal the hidden engineering of Roman baths, the intimate lives within the Terrace Houses, and the sacred echoes of the Church of Mary.

I don’t just show you ruins; I invite you to feel the pulse of the ancient Mediterranean. Whether you are a history buff or a nature lover, I am here to share my deep love for my homeland and ensure you leave with a piece of Turkey in your heart.
