I'm Alexandra Korey, a Canadian art historian and blogger who has been living in Florence, Italy for about 25 years. I came to the city on an undergraduate summer program and fell in love with the city and its art. I proceeded to get a Masters in art history through Syracuse University's program in Florence, followed by a PhD in art history from the University of Chicago. My research on Italian Renaissance art helped me spend more time in Florence, where I eventually met my Florentine husband and moved here.
When I started my blog arttrav.com in 2004, my goal was to make art accessible through what was then a relatively emerging technology. I liked the idea of being able to offer university-level insights to anyone who wanted to learn, outside of the constraints of the classroom. Throughout my varied career in teaching and in communications, I've continued to share my passion for art online.
When not working or creating content for my Instagram (@arttrav), you can find me playing tennis, hiking or sewing.
