Plenty of people know Albrecht Dürer’s hare without knowing Dürer. One contemporary artist complained that the hare had grown into a monster, hiding everything else he did. That monster hare now sits in the square beside the Albrecht Dürer House Museum, where Dürer lived and worked around 1500.
The house is the only surviving home of a Renaissance artist in Europe. Inside, there are no original works, but you get a feel for how he lived and worked.
VoiceMap’s tours explain how the hare came to overshadow its maker, and why the house itself is so important.
