Spirit of the Land: A Sightseeing Tour of Lockhart’s Sculptures
About the Tour
This walking tour takes you on a loop around the picturesque heritage town of Lockhart, known for its pretty verandahs with their ornate iron lacework. Along the way, we’ll discover various points of historical interest, but this agricultural Riverina region town is perhaps most famous for being home to the annual Spirit of the Land Festival. The National Farm Art competition is hosted here during the festival and we’ll see 17 of the sculptures in its permanent collection during our walk, and hear from some of the artists behind them. We’ll also stop to see the most recent winner, displayed outside the caravan park. The audio includes descriptions of the art for the visually impaired, too.
Some of the highlights include:
- The Greens Gunyah Museum
- Walter Day Park and its Walk of Fame exhibit
- The Lockhart Love Locks harbour
- The Water Tower Mural
