About the Tour

If Reno is Nevada’s creative heart, then MidTown’s streets are its vibrant canvas. Embark on this walking tour through the lively streets of MidTown, and wind through its colorful alleys on a visual journey through the evolution of Reno’s mural scene.

You’ll start your tour nested between Pinon Bottle Co and Noble Pie Parlor Midtown, both charming local hangouts. You’ll discover how MidTown Reno’s streets are a living, breathing gallery and walk through its collection of artworks, which spans an entire neighborhood. You’ll find out how the ever-evolving art here has transformed Reno’s architecture and the neighborhood’s fabric. While you stroll through MidTown’s streets, you’ll hear firsthand from some of the muralists and business owners who call MidTown home. Once you’ve seen the best of Reno’s murals, your tour ends close to where it began.

Along the way, you’ll have the chance to:

  • See murals about significant historical events in Reno, like boxer Jack Johnson’s Fight of the Century, and the occasion when Abraham Lincoln bestowed statehood on Nevada
  • Follow in the footsteps of local legends and artistic pioneers who left their mark on the neighborhood
  • Enjoy the mural commissioned by Lavi’s Smoke Shop which captures Reno’s spirit via the Reno Arch, and cultural events like Burning Man and the Great Reno Balloon Race
  • Admire Reciprocity at the MidTown roundabout, an elegant steel structure by Hunter Brown, funded by the Reno Art Council
  • Discover hidden gems and lesser-known murals tucked away in MidTown’s nooks and crannies
  • Find the mural of Michael Heizer, the only living artist to be found on the city’s walls, and hear about his monumental ‘Land Art’, including Double Negative and City
  • Stop to enjoy favorite local food and drink venues, like Local Beer Works, Beefy’s, Noble Pie Parlor, Pinon, and Micano’s Home & Garden

By the end of this self-guided MidTown Mural Tour, you’ll have a newfound appreciation for Reno’s artistic landscape and culture, and see that we are more than just a casino town. So grab your phone, unleash your inner art aficionado, and let’s paint the town together!

Tour Producer

Hey there! I’m Jaime Chapman, one of the voices guiding you through the Self-Guided MidTown Mural Tour. I’m the proud owner of Travel Pineapple, a local tourism company offering several guided and self-guided tours around Reno.

I fell in love with Reno after a short visit here following Burning Man, prompting me to make the move from Key West, Florida. Having spent years as a tour guide in Key West, I recognized the potential in Reno’s rich history and vibrant art scene. Determined to share this with others, I delved into Reno’s culture, devouring every book I could find and connecting with historians and local muralists to create this tour.

Joining me on this journey is the fabulous Connie Wray, a beloved local personality with over 25 years of experience as a radio and television host. As a Nevada Broadcast Hall of Famer, Connie has used her voice to champion what’s right in the world, fueling her life’s purpose of cultivating a strong, healthy community.

We sincerely hope you enjoy exploring and learning about Reno as much as we’ve enjoyed creating this tour!

And if you’re enjoying our chemistry and want to stay updated on the latest events in and around Reno, be sure to tune in to our weekly events podcast, “15ish by Jaime and Connie,” available on all major podcast platforms.
