Wicked Whitechapel: Where Now’s Jack The Ripper Audio Tour
About the Tour
The district of Whitechapel, in London’s vibrant east end, has a sinister and infamous past. Our expert Ripperologist will guide you through 1888’s dark history when Jack the Ripper committed some of the most gruesome murders these streets have ever seen. On this walking tour, you’ll learn all about the case and the history of the area, while you pass some of Whitechapel’s favourite attractions. You’ll also travel back in time to hear the events around the Whitechapel murders recreated in an audio drama.
The tour starts at the Whitechapel Overground Station, where you’ll hear about Mary Ann Nichols, the Ripper’s first victim. From there, you’ll follow Inspector Frederick Abberline, the lead detective on the case, as he interviews witnesses and analyses the clues left behind in this exciting drama, performed by professional actors. You’ll walk down the trendy Brick Lane and see where Ye Frying Pan pub used to be, the pub where one of the victims was spotted having a drink the night before they were murdered. At Aldgate Square, you’ll hear theories about Jack the Ripper’s profession. The tour ends opposite the famous pub, The Ten Bells, where Jack the Ripper found his final victim, Mary Jane Kelly.
Along the way, you’ll have a chance to:
- Enjoy the vibrant Whitechapel area, a cultural hub of street markets and historical architecture
- See the locations where the victims were discovered, including Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes, and Mary Jane Kelly
- Stroll down Brick Lane to sample fine food, including bagels and Indian cuisine
- Pass by Old Spitalfields Market, Christ Church Spitalfields, and St Botolph without Aldgate
- Find Catherine Eddowes’ memorial in Mitre Square Garden
You’re in for an exciting journey and we can’t wait for you to join us on Where Now Audio’s Jack the Ripper tour.

Tips
Places to stop along the way
You'll be finishing next to Spitalfields Market which has a large range of restaurants. You'll also be near the Ten Bells pub, a location integral to the Ripper case, which is a beautiful victorian pub with a great selection of drinks.
Best time of day
The tour can be done anytime of day but of course if you want to feel suitably spooked we recommend when darkness starts to fall.
Precautions
Whitechapel is a lot safer than it was back in 1888 but it's still in a major city so please be aware of your surroundings. Some of the roads you will cross can be rather busy so make sure to always cross safely and remember cars drive on the left hand side of the road. Be careful with your footing as some areas are cobbled and can be slightly uneven.
