Water and Calm: A Walk to Little Venice
About the Tour
Green spaces, water flowing slowly, and swimming ducks. Guess where we are? In one of London's most central areas! Join me on this walk to Little Venice, a picturesque Italian hub amidst the daily chaos of the city.
We are going to cross dynamic bridges, walk along one of the preferred canals for mooring, and breathe the air of an unusually tranquil spot of nature.

So, have you noticed how much of the actual city we have lost? It's steadily being replaced by natural landscape. Have you ever been to Venice? This area kinda reminds me of it. The Lagoon, the maze of canals, the different sized streams.

Directions to Starting Point
We'll start at Edgware Road Station, the stop for the Bakerloo Line. If you use the Circle, District, or Hammersmith & City line instead, turn right on Edgware Road when you exit. You should see the Underground sign just past the flyover. If you're not sure, ask for directions to Bakerloo Station. The stations are very close, but not in the same building.
Tips
Places to stop along the way
Edgware Road, Paddington Basin, Rembrandt Gardens, moored boats, and all the bridges crossing the canal. There are also many pretty cafés along the way.
Best time of day
Morning, early and midafternoon. The walk is better with clear sky.
Rembrandt Gardens – our very last stop – closes at 4:30pm from the end of British Summer Time to February 15. From then on, the opening times increase by half an hour every two weeks until May 16 - 31 July, when the gates remain open until 9:30pm. From August onwards, the opening times decrease by half an hour every two weeks, until the end of BST.
It's worth considering the best time to walk in relation to the Gardens' opening times.
Precautions
The area is not too humid, but it can be very windy. Watch out for slippery pavements during the second part of the walk.
The Fan Bridge and the Rolling Bridge normally opens/rolls on Fridays at noon, which can take around 10/15 minutes. The bridges are occasionally raised for boats to pass. If this happens, don't worry: enjoy the show, wait until the end, and then we will continue our walk.
