About the Tour

Great stories have washed up on the banks of Geneva Lake throughout its rich history. Let me share my favorites with you while we cruise around the shoreline. You’ll be entertained, I’m sure, whether it's your first time on the water or you’ve been boating here for years.

You'll find out how the owners of some of the incredible lakeshore estates made their fortunes and were able to build such magnificent homes. These titans of the beer, washing machine, chewing gum and even bicycle industries took refuge here after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, while the city was rebuilt. In the process, they made Geneva Lake one of the Midwest’s favorite vacation destinations.

This tour covers the entire circumference of the lake's shoreline. You can start and end it at any point and come back to it as many times as you like. Bring family and friends and share some of the captivating stories that surround Geneva Lake.

Playback will be most effective if you follow the red route line on the VoiceMap app, but make sure you keep a safe distance between you and other boats or people in the water. Be prepared to slow down as you reach the points of interest.

All the red markers on the map are outside of the no-wake zone so be sure to stay out of the no-wake zone for this audio tour. You may want to go into the VoiceMap settings and turn OFF the Tour Player Autolock. This will keep the map open as you travel around the lake.

Comments

I had some friends on the boat this last weekend and thought I would try this audio tour. It was way better than me trying to do it. It tells all the stories and I ran it thru the speakers so everyone could hear it...way better than me talking. Highly recommend!
