If you wish to enjoy the tour with me of Michelangelo's David and unfinished Masterpieces at the Accademia Gallery in Florence, let me start by giving you a few quick tips on ticket bookings, security, and museum logistics to ensure a smooth visit.
The museum Galleria dell'Accademia is located in Via Ricasoli 58/60. The opening hours are from 8:15 am to 6:50 pm (last admission at 6:20 pm), Tuesday to Sunday.
If you're without a ticket during peak season, be prepared for a long wait! Thus I suggest you to purchase your tickets.
Standard tickets are euros, but entry is completely free for visitors under 18 years old, you just need to present a valid ID at the ticket window.
For adults, always book your timed entry online in advance through the official site for 24 euros, that 4-euro booking fee easily saves you hours waiting in line outside.

Places to stop along the way
Before or after the tour, in only 12 minutes walk, you can see the square of Piazza Signoria, the political square of Florence, where you’ll find the copy of David so you’ll understand exactly where the original statue was placed for three centuries, before its transportation to the gallery in 1873.
In front of the museum you can find a bar/book shop and a little grocery shop.
Best time of day
You can do this tour all year round. The Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze is an indoor museum.
Museum Hours: Open Tuesday through Sunday, 8:15 AM to 6:50 PM (last entry at 6:20 PM).
Closed Days: Always closed on Mondays, January 1st, and December 25th.
Make sure you have a reservation to avoid long waiting time which will be outdoor.
Avoid Free Sundays: On the first Sunday of every month, entrance is free. While budget-friendly, ticket reservations are not available in advance, resulting in extremely long outdoor lines and overcrowded interior galleries.
All visitors must pass through a metal detector security checkpoint before entering, which can cause delays during peak hours. Large bags, backpacks, or luggage are not permitted, so bring only small purses or daypacks.
Only small bottle of water are allowed. Big ones (1lt) or coloured drinks are not allowed.
Pictures are allowed (no flash) but not the use of selfie sticks!
