What a difference a Bay makes: A stroll around Cardiff's waterfront
About the Tour
Join me on a walking tour around Cardiff Bay and hear about its transformation from the world’s busiest coal-exporting port to a vibrant waterfront area. As you make your way around the bay, you’ll see and hear about the contrasting buildings that are dotted around the waterfront. There’s a mix of old and new architecture that helps bring the Cardiff Bay story to life, including one of the most environmentally friendly parliament buildings in Europe, the old port authority buildings from Cardiff's maritime past, and a theatre constructed entirely from products sourced from across Wales.
Some of the historical tidbits you’ll discover include:
- Which Cardiff native sang three of the James Bond theme songs
- Which Scottish family influenced the growth of the docks
- How a church from Norway ended up in the area
- Which children’s author was baptised here
...and plenty more. I look forward to showing you the highlights of our capital's waterfront on this 45-minute tour!
