The Dönerkebab is such an integral part of Berlin that the dramatic history of its invention and success is often overlooked. According to legends, the origins of the snack can be found right here in Kreuzberg. On this walk through the district, which is sometimes referred to as Little Istanbul
, we'll follow the history of its invention and learn about the society that brought the Dönerkebab to life. We'll walk a small part of the Berlin Wall to uncover how the division of Berlin played an important role in changing the culinary habits of an entire nation.
