We’ll introduce you to delicious, traditional Greek food in authentic spots including the oldest coffee shop in Athens and two hidden away restaurants you’d never find on your own.

Come hungry as we take you on a journey to discover:

• The famous food markets of Athens
• How coffee was made in ancient times
• Where we buy our fresh fruit, vegetables and spices
• Where trendy Athenians go to socialise
• Fresh fish and salad in a basement restaurant
• Homemade wine poured directly from the barrel
• A rooftop bar with the best view of the Acropolis
• Shops where you’ll find gifts at much cheaper prices

At the end of this tour you will know where to eat, shop and relax for the rest of your stay here. We hope you have a wonderful time in our much loved city!

Rachel Montague Michalis Dionisakis

Athenian Michalis and Rachel welcome you to our home city!
We have so many memories to share of growing up in Athens. Maik is an expert in knowing the best market products and great, secret spots to eat and drink. His family are cooks and food has always been a passion that he enjoys sharing!
Rachel is originally from Thessaloniki, the second largest City of Greece but relocated to Athens 8 years ago as she loves the City so much! She runs daily tours of Athens food markets and hidden spots to eat in the centre and is happy to share this knowledge with you.
Together we run
We are dedicated to sharing with you the " locals" food and drink spots amongst the bustling markets stalls and traditional tavernas that we love to visit both on our tours and in our social life!

Best time of day

The best time to do the tour is between 10am and 3pm Monday to Saturday. Plan to stop and have lunch during the tour as we have a number of recommendations for you. If you only have one day in Athens, chose where to eat at the end of the tour so that you have all the choices before making your decision. The meat and fish markets start to close at 4pm.

Pick pockets operate in Monastiraki Square so please be careful with your personal belongings, keep everything safe in front of you. Do not leave your mobile phone on the table whilst you are having coffee.

Brilliant tour. Guides really well informed. Particularly enjoyed the fruit and vegetable market. Food was absolutely delicious. Best time to be had in Athens. Thoroughly recommended.

I don’t often leave reviews but I cannot help telling everyone about this tour, it was fabulous. Being an avid foodie, this tour blew me away! Having been to Athens a handful of time I would have expected to at least have tried a few of the places we visited, but they were all new to me and I will definitely be visiting them again.

Rachel & Michalis, our guides, were outstanding and clearly have lots of local knowledge. They took time to answer my questions, and gave us recommendations along the way. I have been on many food tours, and hands down I can say this one is up there with the best.  They were not exaggerating, do come hungry – you wont want to miss out on the food (thank me later!)

Thank you so much Rachel & Michalis, we will absolutely see you again when we’re next in Athens
