I'm Samuel Mattern and I love a good story. Especially one that takes you back in time.

My favorite way to tell stories is through audio.

Born in Portland, Oregon (USA), I crafted my first audio drama at the age of five with nothing more than a cassette tape recorder and a handful of my father’s tools that I ruined for my under-the-bed Foley studio.

It was a time-travel story.

Fast-forward: for the past 20 years, I’ve split my residence between Spain and North Africa, still telling stories (but breaking fewer tools). A professional voice actor, my star project is Spanish Sundown, a thriller podcast that brings the history of the land of Cervantes alive through characters ranging from ancient Celts on hallucinogenic substances to Renaissance kings with magical potions to 20th-century Nazi collaborators.

I'm champing at the bit to share even more stories with you through Voice Map.

My work has been featured at international festivals and in multiple news outlets, including Spanish National Radio and Forbes Magazine.

Fluent in Spanish and French, I am also specialized as a bicultural translator in screenplay translation and development for some of the top industry players in Europe and the US.

I can't stop telling stories. Because I never want to stop travelling through time.
