Lamont Turner

Lamont is a 7th generation Williamson Countian born in Franklin TN, whose ancestors overcame the Cornerstone conflicts of their time. His Franklin Special School District public school and Battle Ground Academy schooling led to him graduating from Vanderbilt University in three years, attaining a bachelor's degree in Human Organizational Development with a leadership focus.

The barriers he broke while growing up and navigating life in The Confederate Deep South, put him on a trajectory to build a 20 year medical sales career and start a family in downtown Franklin TN. With those progressions, he broke many generational barriers by being the first black male, and often the first black period, with his experiences.

However, while living amongst Jim Crow era Franklinites. he underestimated just how much our culture is still wrestling with making the post Civil War, reconstruction shift. His recent historical preservation work as board member, with organizations like Franklin's Charge, Williamson Remembers, The Public (Franklin), Tennesseans for Historical Justice and more, coupled with his personal experiences, he became convinced that it was time for Franklin and America, to address our wound of white supremacy.

Thus, he founded this walking tour to reframe our Civil War battlefield conversations, into courageous community healing conversations. As a certified Energy Leadership Coach., Lamont has learned to better process and regulate thoughts, feelings and actions while navigating these courageous Cornerstone conversations. He's learned tips to raise our energy when we're vibrating on a lower energetic frequency level. On this tour, he shares some of those tools and resources.
