Hi
I am Ken Bradshaw a Blue Badge Tourist Guide for North East England. I’ve been guiding now since 2021 and love to show my adopted city of over 30 years to the many visitors to the World Heritage Site City of Durham. In Durham you will find the Norman Romanesque wonder that is the Cathedral and its counterpart being the castle. Both were built soon after the battle of Hastings in the eleventh century.
As a guide I bring a long history of working on heritage and tourism projects and consequently I know the county of Durham, Newcastle and its surrounding neighbour Northumberland intimately well. In addition to the unique university city that is Durham there are abundant other attractions including Raby Castle (once home to the Neville family and the last Plantagenet kings, Edward IV and Richard III). There is also Bowes museum in Barnard Castle containing thousands of precious objects collected by the founders, John and Jacqueline Bowes-Lyons. On the coast there are miles of beautiful cliff and sea views, totally restored after the devastation of the mining period. And in the West don’t forget to visit the National Landscapes North Pennines , a beautiful hilly area full of natural wonder and an agricultural landscape.
