The foundation for 41 Whacks was laid by my "Dutch Uncle," the renowned Civil War historian William Gladstone. Over holiday dinners he would mesmerize us with vivid, forgotten stories of the past. He didn't just teach history; he brought it to life.

When I moved to Massachusetts' historic South Coast, I immediately became engrossed in the region's deep, textured past, from its maritime legends (Stone Fleet Captains) to its industrial milestones. As we dug deeper into local lore, we started realizing that every shadow, every rumor, and every historic road ultimately led back to one infamous, irresistible point: Lizzie Borden.
