REACH in New Brunswick is a Black-led nonprofit organization based in Fredericton, New Brunswick. We are dedicated to the research, documentation, and preservation of Black History and cemeteries in New Brunswick. Our primary goal is to educate and actively work towards reversing the erasure of Black history in New Brunswick.
At REACH, we firmly believe that the rich and diverse history of the Black community in New Brunswick deserves to be recognized, celebrated, and preserved for present and future generations. Our passionate team of researchers, historians, and community members collaborate to uncover and showcase the stories, contributions, and struggles of Black individuals and communities throughout the region.
In addition to our research endeavours, we place significant emphasis on preserving and restoring Black cemeteries within the region. These sacred sites hold immeasurable historical significance, serving as final resting places for Black individuals who played vital roles in shaping our communities. Through meticulous restoration efforts and ongoing maintenance, we aim to honour their memory and ensure these hallowed grounds are respectfully cared for.
REACH in New Brunswick invites you to join us in our mission to preserve and celebrate Black history. Together, we can make a difference by recognizing and valuing the integral role Black individuals have played in shaping New Brunswick's past, present, and future.
