Two green doors, patchy brickwork and a round window: that’s all that gives away San Pietro in Atrio at number 3 Via Odescalchi. The window may once have been a rose window, and the church dates to the 1100s.
Its foundation is probably tied to the nearby Basilica of San Fedele. A recent restoration has turned the interior into a space for art exhibitions.
VoiceMap’s tours stop here on Via Odescalchi, a quiet street where open doors often reveal courtyards and small hidden gardens. They use the church to show how much a plain facade can hide.
