On these walks you will not only hear about famous cultural and political figures, but also see some magnificent architecture, from ancient monasteries to Georgian Squares and modernist skyscrapers. One of London’s greatest pleasures is its ability to reinvent itself, mixing the old with the new. You will follow in the footsteps of Charles Dickens in the City of London, seeing places he would lave known and also where many of his most famous novels were set. In Bloomsbury you will meet writers including T S Eliot, Dylan Thomas, G B Shaw and of course Virginia Woolf, as well as visiting several of London’s most beautiful Georgian Squares. You'll hear about and see the places Oscar Wilde frequented and drew inspiration from. Finally you will hear about London’s radical past in Clerkenwell, where you will also see three former monasteries – St John‘s, Charterhouse and St Bartholomew’s – including visiting inside the chapel of Charterhouse and the Norman church of St Bartholomew the Great.
