I am Tom and I work as a professional historian, tour guide and actor. Despite having qualifications from the universities of Cambridge, Kingston and Oxford, I believe that history should be accessible to everyone and that you do not need a degree to have knowledge. Since 2010, I have had the good fortune of working at a number of heritage locations, from teaching archery at Bodiam Castle through overseeing school workshops at Hever Castle to collections supervision at Hampton Court Palace. In 2021, I decided to set up my company ‘Historiographers Heritage‘ to portray history in fun and immersive ways. In addition to hosting heritage fundraisers, we offer historic walking tours throughout the north west, such as the Chester Family Tour, the Tudor & Stuart Tour of Chester, the Georgian & Regency Tour of Lancaster and...this self-guided audio tour! When not giving tours or shouting commands as a roman soldier, I am a stay-at-home dad...sometimes. When not at zoos and playgrounds, my daughter and I love exploring new places and meeting new people. On adventure days, I am her chauffeur and she simply tells me where to go – six year olds love being in charge! ”Love history? So do we!” at the Historiographers Heritage.
