A Stroll through the Heart of Savannah’s Historical District
About the Tour
Stroll along streets lined with Southern Live oak trees draped in Spanish moss on this walking tour of beautiful Savannah. You’ll discover how and why the city was established, and learn about the battles that were fought here. You’ll hear stories filled with intrigue and, as Savannah’s southern charm draws you in, I’ll tell you how this city has grown into the popular destination it is today.
High points along the way include:
- Discovering the history and home of the Gordon family, along with Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts
- Seeing where Forrest Gump sat with his box of chocolates
- Exploring a former battleground
- Finding out why Savannah is the most haunted city in the country
This tour covers all that, and much more. Our walk begins in Wright Square and ends at Forsyth Park, and there’ll be plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy your surroundings and truly savour Savannah.

My name is Rose, I am the owner of Explore Savannah, a walking tour company. I grew up in NE Ohio, where not much happened that was written in the history books. It wasn't until I moved to the south that I began to see and understand how rich our history truly is. My husband is from South Carolina, one of the original 13 colonies and his family history dates back to those colonial days. Being married to Rick has inspired me to learn more about our history. Moving to Savannah in the spring of 2016, I truly began to appreciate and dig deeper to learn all I could about Savannah and her rich and inspiring history. My perspective is much like yours, being able to see and experience her historic district with fresh eyes and admiration.
