    Art and Controversy in Philadelphia

Hello and welcome to Art and Controversy in Philadelphia. My name is Sarah Miduski.

You should be facing Logan Square Fountain. On your left is a small house with a green roof. The Academy of Natural Sciences building is behind you.

    [1.5 SECOND PAUSE]

In this tour we’ll explore questions such as, can one governing body dictate what is or isn’t art? Does a single person have the right to decide who can and cannot see works of art? We’ll ponder these questions against the backdrop of some of Philadelphia’s most famous art attractions.

    [1.5 SECOND PAUSE]

    So, lets get going.

    [1.5 SECOND PAUSE]

Start making your way around the left side of the Fountain. Continue to the opposite side.

    [1.5 SECOND PAUSE]

Note the three statues in the fountain center. They represent bodies of water in the area - the Delaware, the Wissahickon, and the Schuylkill.

While you walk, I'll briefly explain how VoiceMap works.

It uses your location to play audio automatically, at the right time and place along our route. This means that you can put your phone away now. Don't worry there's occasional silence, when I'm not giving directions or telling stories. There's a map on your screen if you ever feel lost, and if you do get way off track without noticing, VoiceMap will let you know.

    Keep going around the fountain.
