About the Tour

Flåm Railway is one of the world’s steepest train routes and is best-known for its spectacular tunnels that spiral in and out of the mountain. On this scenic Norwegian rail journey from the Flåmsbana station in Flåm to Myrdal, you’ll hear about the train’s history, local attractions, and what to do while you’re in the Aurland region.

On this 20-kilometre journey you’ll see Norwegian nature at its most magnificent, and stunning views at every turn. The trip starts in the village of Flåm in the innermost section of Aurland fjord’s which forms part of the world’s longest fjord, the Sognefjord. Along the way, you’ll pass and hear about several picturesque hamlets and stations, including Dalsbotn, Berekvam, Blomheller, Lunden, Reinunga and Vatnahalsen, where the spectacular Flåm Zipline starts.

On this hour-long train trip, you’ll have a chance to:

  • Hear about the legend of Brita Fretheim, a local girl who was captured by the Hulder people and trapped behind the Kjosfossen waterfall
  • See Kjosfossen Falls up close and hear the mighty waterfall’s roar
  • Be amazed by Norway’s natural beauty as you drift past white mountain peaks with small farms clinging to steep slopes
  • Find out why the railway is considered a masterpiece of Norwegian engineering
  • Take in the medieval Flåm Church, completed in 1670

So sit back, relax, and join me on this incredibly scenic journey through Flåm Valley, where waterfalls tumble down steep mountainsides in abundance, and rivers cut through deep gorges.

Please note: The cost of the train ticket isn’t included in this tour. You’ll need to purchase your own ticket separately.

In the northern reaches of Europe, amidst the crisp air and breathtaking landscapes, resides an Arctic storyteller whose words weave magic into the frozen silence. Meet Lars Engerengen, a passionate narrator of the Arctic wilderness, a voice that carries the echoes of history and the whispers of untamed nature.

Living beneath the shimmering Northern Lights and the endless glow of the Midnight Sun, Lars discovered his fascination for the Arctic’s lore in childhood. Nights spent listening to age-old tales by the fireside sparked a curiosity that would shape his life’s journey. That spark grew into a flame as he ventured across icy tundras, sailed through fjords, and trekked along snow-laden paths, collecting stories etched into the land and its people.

His storytelling is more than words—it is an immersive experience. With a voice that soothes and inspires, Lars transports listeners to remote landscapes where ancient myths meet modern realities. Through his narratives, one feels the biting wind, hears the crunch of snow underfoot, and senses the resilience of those who carved out life in this harsh yet beautiful region.

Lars doesn't tell you everything, but he tells you enough to pique your curiosity. Enough to make you want to learn more. Enough to make you want to stay a while longer.

Join Lars on a journey beyond the ordinary—a voyage into the soul of the Arctic. Each tale is an invitation to explore a world where nature reigns supreme, and history lingers in every frozen breath. Step into the story, and let the Arctic speak through him.
