About the Tour

Directions to Starting Point
Make your way to the bottom of Granny's Green Steps, in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle, at the west end of the popular Grassmarket area in Edinburgh's Old Town.
Tips
Places to stop along the way
Grab a coffee in the Grassmarket where we begin our route; there are toilets and a cafe in the National Galleries of Scotland (just over half-way round); during the summer there's an open-air cafe on Calton Hill near the tour end point.
Best time of day
Walking the route in the morning will help you avoid the crowds (especially during the summer).
Precautions
Calton Hill can be treacherous underfoot, so best avoided in the evening/night. Take care when crossing roads, and the Old Town cobbles can be slippery and uneven underfoot.
