    The bright coloured boats pulled up under the wall are for gig racing. it's a sport now but was bread and butter at ports in the old days when the fastest crew got the job of piloting ships in.

    Behind wire netting the right you can see an old boat being renovated. It's a "Nobby" a type of wide low boat often used in estuaries as it made it easier for catches of, say prawns in the netting to be hauled aboard.
