Hi I'm David, a Chester-born freelance author and qualified tourist guide.

I lead various tours around Chester, notably Haunted Chester, an immersive walking tour to explore the dark-tourism heritage of my home city. With a background in travel journalism and over two decades of storytelling experience, I try to blend historical research with spine-tingling folklore to bring the city’s dark past vividly to life.

Haunted Chester was named New Tourism Business of the Year 2024 at the Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards. The tour, and my new book, A Dark History of Chester (published autumn 2025 by Amberley), invites you to see Chester as you've never seen it before, its ancient streets regularly voted of one of Britain’s most haunted cities.

Telling engaging stories of my home region, creating memorable experiences for visitors and sharing my local knowledge is what I’m all about.
