Born and raised in western China, nothing excites Yao more than landing in new places and connecting with local people. In his day job at the World Bank in Washington D.C., he tries to deliver more clean energy in developing countries. Prior to that, Yao worked in Abu Dhabi, primarily focused on helping small islands develop renewable energy. When Yao is not trekking the Pantanal in Brazil or visiting villages in Tanzania or backroads of India, his main hobby is scuba diving – Zanzibar, Strait of Hormuz and Okinawa are many of his favorite spots.
