    Towards Lavenham Hall

    Continue along the path.

You're heading towards Lavenham Hall. The wealth of the De Vere family and numerous wool merchant of Lavenham was based on the hard work of those tending the sheep in the foot hills of Wales. The fleece was sent to Lavenham where the merchants then sent it to spinners right across the East of England to produce the yarn. Then back it came to the merchants to be sent out to the weavers in counties around Suffolk. The buildings behind the grand timbered halls here were the warehouses and finishing rooms for this trade.

You will see glimpses of the hall to your left. A clearer view is coming up by the stream.
