Tour Locations | Downtown Reno: From the Reno Arch to the Truckee River
Start - Poker Chips
Welcome to Reno. You should be standing on the corner of North Virginia Street and East Commercial Row near three stacks of big poker chips. This is where the tour begins.
My name is Fil Corbitt and I’ll be your guide today. I’m a radio producer here and I make a podcast called The Wind. I was born in Reno, grew up nearby and have been living here since 2008.
Today we'll take a walk, and find out how Reno came to be and how it’s changed over the decades.
Before we get started, some housekeeping.
VoiceMap uses GPS to play audio at the right time and place. So you can put your phone in your pocket and my voice will guide through the tour. You will not need to look at your phone during this walk, but if you do feel lost you can always check the map. If you walk WAY off course, VoiceMap will let you know. There WILL be times when I’m silent but that’s okay, just keep walking. And finally, this tour will take about 30-40 minutes.
So, let's get going.
To start, you’ll walk like 20 feet.
Cross Commercial Row over towards the large Reno sign, and stop at the base of the sign.
