    萨沃伊酒店入口

    请向右看。你现在在萨沃伊酒店的入口了。它上面有一个巨大的银色标志和一个金色的华丽雕像。

    乍一看,你可能看不出什么奇怪的,但是这个酒店入口的车道是很不一样的。你往前走几步,仔细看看车辆行驶的方向。是不是看出了端倪?

    车辆绕着转盘,在路的右侧,逆时针方向行驶。这是伦敦唯一一条这样的道路。

    为什么会这样呢?和伦敦的许多事情一样,这一切都归结为传统。在以前,女士们总是坐在马车或轿车司机的后面。这样司机可以迅速下车,为到达目的地的女乘客开车门。然而,如果司机在路的左侧停靠,那么穿着长礼服的女士们在下车后,就不得不绕过车的后面,才能进入酒店。所以酒店就将门口的道路方向颠倒了过来。

    有趣的是,当酒店在2011年进行装修时,竟然决定继续沿用这种方式。这可是所有出租车司机的噩梦!

    我们的讲解就要进入尾声了。我们看到了很多伦敦蜚声世界的景点,讲述了它们背后丰富的历史传统,谈到了宗教,阶级制度,第一支警察部队,咖啡和红灯区。甚至还闻了闻最后一盏维多利亚时代的沼气路灯。这种方式也算是包罗万象吧,好吧,红灯区里的那些莺莺燕燕不算。
