    Castle Street to Town Hall

Once across, continue along Castle Street. This is one of the town's original seven streets. During the medieval period, the town’s market was situated here.

The buildings on your left were built in the 19th. Until then and upto the late 20th century it was the centre of the city's financial district, home to banking and insurance companies. As you can see, they are now home to several bars and restaurants.

If here on 10th July 1964 you would have seen The Beatles on the balcony of the Town Hall at the end of the street. They returned to Liverpool for a civic reception and premiere of their first film, A Hard Day’s Night. An estimated 30,000 gathered to catch a glimpse of the band.

Preview mode limited to first 3 locations.
