This tour takes you via all five buildings of the National Galleries of Scotland, offering the perfect way to explore the city's artistic heritage. It finishes at the two galleries of modern art, walking via the New Town, Stockbridge, the historic Dean Village, and the Water of Leith walkway.

Directions to Starting Point
Begin at the plaza between the two National Gallery buildings on the Mound, in the middle of Princes Street. If you're travelling by tram or bus, get off at the Princes Street stop, and then walk to the space between the galleries.
Tips
Places to stop along the way
Take the opportunity to visit all five art galleries – all have free entry – or just enjoy the walk. You can also grab a coffee in Stockbridge on the way through, or finish your tour with refreshments in the gallery café. At the end of the tour, you can catch a free shuttle bus back into the city centre.
Best time of day
If you are planning to visit the galleries along the way or want to spend time in the Modern Art Galleries at the end of the tour, check their opening times in advance and allow plenty of time for your tour.
Most of the Scottish National Galleries are open from 10am to 5pm, but please double check before you leave.
Precautions
Take care crossing roads; the Water of Leith walkway can be muddy and wet during the winter.
