I grew up in South London, attending the London Nautical School in Blackfriars where I became fascinated with the history of the City of London. With its unique and historical features such as the Livery Companies, the Lord Mayor and St Mary-le-Bow Church. I would venture into the City whenever I could, walk around the streets and become enthralled by walking in the footsteps of people such as Samuel Pepys or William Penn. Little did I know that I would later join the police and complete 20+ years service both in uniform and as a detective. In my later years within The City of London Police I would deliver training to trainee detectives as well as providing student officers with some knowledge and undertaking of the City and its history. The City of London is a fascinating location with history at every turn. Now in my fifties I still discover little snippets of the past that excite and enthral me. Remember Dr Johnsons Quote "Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford"
