LOCATION 22 | The White City
We've reached our final destination - Hotel Cinema. It crystalizes everything we touched upon during our tour.
Like all the buildings around Dizengoff Square, it was designed in the International Style. In 1939 it was opened to the public and served as a movie theatre. The first screening featured Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - the first animated feature film, which turned Walt Disney into an empire.
In the 1990s the cinema was shut down and later turned into a boutique hotel - the first one in Tel Aviv city center. In recent years, as more and more visitors come to appreciate the White City, it only goes to show how important it is to be in the right place.
You can visit the foyer and gallery of Hotel Cinema. It hosts a permanent exhibition of the movie theatre history, open free of charge. Otherwise, you can go to Le’hizdangeff - walk along Dizengoff Street. Whether you’d like to go shopping or grab something to eat, Dizengoff will suit you.
That concludes our tour of the White City of Tel Aviv - a UNESCO world heritage site. I hope you enjoyed the history, the culture and the architecture.
I would appreciate it if you took a moment to rate the tour or leave a comment.
