Cantina del Brunello
Stop here please. On your right-hand side is Cantina del Brunello, the place I was telling you about.
Federico, the owner, is a real expert and loves organizing wine tastings at his place too. Definitely, a unique atmosphere because part of the store looks like a cellar: hard to say whether these caves were simply for storage in the past or they might be pertinent to an Etruscan tomb, meaning to the time before the Romans conquered Siena in the 1st century BC.
The heart of the city is full of similar rooms, carved from sandstone and still visible in the original conditions or beautifully decorated with bricks.
Whenever you feel ready, keep walking uphill until you reach the square dominated by a large church, San Domenico.
