View on Maison de la Place
Stop here for a moment and look to your right.
About 100 meters away, across the field, you have a good view of the Maison de la Place.
This building pre-dates the Grand Chalet by almost a hundred years and is one of the oldest buildings in Rossiniere. Built during the Bernese occupation, the Maison de la Place took three years to build and was completed in 1664. It is a building of exceptional quality, which reflects the social status of its sponsor. Adam Martin was an emissary of Bern and an important figure in Rossinière. During this period, the Bernese lords extended their influence through several local personalities. Power games were legion, and owning a beautiful chalet was also a sign of wealth and influence. It is a symmetrical building housing two dwellings.
When you're ready, just continue walking straight.
