    The Reno Renaissance

    Continue walking.

Across the water on your right you’ll see what is now the Renaissance Reno Hotel. Basically since the Mapes was built, the Hotel Casino dominated downtown Reno. But one of the big shifts that the city has seen in the last 10 years is these hotel casinos being replaced by more traditional hotels and retail space. The Whitney Peak Hotel replaced Fitzgeralds, Harrahs - which was one of the biggest gaming properties in Reno - is currently transforming into apartments, dining and stores, and the Renaissance to your right replaced the Siena , which was previously the Holiday Hotel and Casino. This new shift seems to be just another chapter in Reno’s story, as it constantly reinvents itself.

    Continue to the next bridge.
