Tour Locations | Downtown Reno: From the Reno Arch to the Truckee River
Let's stop here for a moment. Above you is Reno’s most famous landmark, The Reno Arch. It spans the main drag, Virginia Street, which runs North-South, and this spot is the sort of ceremonial center of the city.
What you’re looking at is actually the 3rd Reno Arch to stand here. The first one was built in 1926 to commemorate the completion of the Lincoln Highway. We’ll actually see that one later. It was replaced in 1963 during casino boom, and again in 1987, which is the sign you see now.
Alright, with your back to our starting point, let’s continue walking along the left side of Virginia Street. Our next stop is a large clock on the corner of 1st and Virginia.
