Civil War Soldiers and Sailors Monument

    Pay wave

    Keep walking.

Have a look just ahead to your left.

This is the Soldiers and Sailors Civil War Memorial. The memorials are situated on their own islands in the middle of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

The two marble pylons are meant to act as a welcoming Gateway for The Parkway and The Philadelphia Museum of Art.

One of the pylons depicts soldiers in the midst of battle during the United States Civil War. A crest containing an Eagle holding a sword, sits atop the memorial.

The second pylon depicts sailors in the midst of battle during the Civil War. The crest that rests at the top of this pylon shows an eagle holding an anchor.

Each pylon has a plaque at the bottom that contains an inspiring quote.

    Continue straight.
