    Ancient Volcano

Keep going. You are now in an area that geologists have dated to be as old as 1.5 billion years old, a time when only single-celled organisms dominated the planet. On the right is the core of an ancient volcano called Malapai. Rocks are volcanic or igneous and as such have carried heavier metals to the surface. The Gold Coin mine is located here too.

If you want to explore this area, you can do a loop by taking the next right. 4 wheel drives are required, and it'll take about an hour and a half as it's 18 miles in total. I'll tell you when to turn, if this is something you'd like to do.

Preview mode limited to first 3 locations.
